Recently we purchased a kingsize bedding set from The Sleep Center. I would like to tell you what a favorable impression we received from your staff, particularly Tad Miller.


We first tried out mattresses there on a Sunday afternoon. Tad assisted us and answered our questions. We were immediately amazed at his knowledge of the merchandise, his courtesy, and his professionalism. We did not buy anything that day, but left with a very GOOD feeling.


As a former public relations director, I can tell you this is very important.


After looking around at other places, we returned to The Sleep Center two weeks later to make a purchase. It was Saturday, and Tad was not there that day, but we requested that he be given credit for the sale since he had spent so much time with us previously. The salespeople who were present had no problem with that, and again, everyone was most helpful and pleasant, although busy with other customers.


When delivery was made, it was discovered the mattress had a serious flaw. The delivery men assured me a replacement mattress would be ordered at once and I would be contacted about delivery.


A few days later, I called The Sleep Center just to make sure. I talked with Tad Miller and he could find no record of our replacement mattress having been ordered. He investigated, and later called me back. The order had been mis-filed and the mattress had not been ordered at all. But Tad took the initiative, called the Simmons people, and was able to persuade them to add on the late order for our mattress! So in a very short time, another delivery was made and we are now sleeping very comfortably and happily on our new kingsize Simmons Beautyrest Libson set.


We feel that Tad sets a wonderful example of salesmanship, customer attention, and "going the extra mile". Since we are moving to North Carolina in a couple of weeks, it was important to us that we get the new sleep set as soon as possible. And Tad made that happen. He deserves special credit, we think, from management. And he certainly made a great impression on us!


The young men who made the two deliveries also deserve special mention. They, too, were right on TIME, something that is very rare these days. Evidence of good training was apparent, because they were extremely careful of my furnishings such as chandeliers and ceiling fans, they moved with speedy precision, and very obviously knew exactly what they were supposed to do. It was interesting and impressive just watching them.


This may sound ridiculous to you, Mr. Herlihy, but as a former professional myself currently married to a professional engineer/analyst, and a homemaker for over 50 years, I have seen just about every phase of home deliveries, repairs, and workmanship, etc.


So it was most refreshing to do business with someone who sells a good product, stands behind their product, communicates well, and is timely. All these things, coupled with friendliness, courtesy, and professionalism, create an impression of The Sleep Center that cannot be purchased.


You have a staff to be proud of, especially Tad Miller. Were we not moving away very shortly now, we would be returning customers. Thank you, and thanks also to your staff, for inspiring me to write such a long letter!
